When Wilton came out with their pre-made eyes, I was as happy as a pig in mud. You can stick eyes on anything and they come alive, as Caspar Babypants so delightfully sang. I love all the varieties of pretty pastel candies that are available at Easter time, and it’s nice to have a project to do with the kids that doesn’t involve dozens of leftover hard boiled eggs.
All you’ll need is:
- double stuff Oreos
- pastel candy corn
- confetti cake decorations
- black icing
- pre-made Wilton eyeballs, or you can just use a dollop of white icing and a dollop of black icing
Assembly is pretty self-explanatory. Gently twist the Oreo apart and discard (or eat) the leftover chocolate wafer. Gently press two candy corns to the top, pointy side down. Don’t press hard or you will crack the cookie. Gently place eyeballs and confetti for nose, and then use black icing to pipe on mouth and whiskers.
Your kids will be delighted with these little cuties, and so will you: they’re quick, cheap, and not messy. That makes them winners in my book!
